Calibration of Thermal Dissipation Probes for Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

چکیده

The quantification of water flow through the stem is vital for date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) to promote a good stress management. thermal dissipation probe (TDP) method developed by Granier widely used evaluate transpiration forest trees; however, there are contradictory reports regarding its reliability. Considerable errors in estimated sap flux density, which might be due lack ofspecies-specific calibrations. TDP uses mathematical model that based on an empirical equation estimate claimed applicable all tree species, independently wood structure and anatomy. At laboratory, we compared rate uptake cut stems with estimates derived from assess validity method. Our calibration results were considerably different Granier’s original equation. Moreover, density was overestimated 18.2 ± 0.5% when parameters Granierare employed. However, using new improved accuracy measurements. Our indicated it not appropriate use general species. Therefore, previous estimations palm’s requirement probes should revised.

Genome sequence of the date palm Phoenix dactylifera L

Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) is a cultivated woody plant species with agricultural and economic importance. Here we report a genome assembly for an elite variety (Khalas), which is 605.4 Mb in size and covers >90% of the genome (~671 Mb) and >96% of its genes (~41,660 genes). Genomic sequence analysis demonstrates that P. dactylifera experienced a clear genome-wide duplication after eithe...

Socio-economic characterisation of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) growers and date value chains in Pakistan

Increasing food production to feed its rapidly growing population is a major policy goal of Pakistan. The production of traditional staples such as rice (Oryza sativa L.) and bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) has been intensified in many regions, but not in remote, drought-ridden areas. In these arid, marginal environments dates and their by-products are an option to complement staples given t...

Direct Organogenesis of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) for Propagation of True-to-Type Plants

RAPD analysis This study aimed to develop an efficient method for micrpropagation of true-to-type date palm plants through direct organogenesis. Nodular cultures were obtained from shoot tips on MS medium plus 2 mg/l 2ip and 1 mg/l NAA. Among combinations of 2ip and 2,4-D added to culture medium for direct shoot buds proliferation, 5 mg/l 2ip alone gave the highest organogenesis frequency. For ...

New microsatellite markers for assessment of genetic diversity in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

New primer pairs of genomic DNA microsatellite markers were tested to assess the genetic diversity of eleven date palm genotypes. The results indicated that out of thirty, only seven primers (23.3%) failed to amplify the expected PCR fragments, while thirteen primers (43.3%) amplified monomorphic banding patterns and the remaining ten primers (33.4%) generated polymorphic banding patterns. A to...
